Celia Matamoro

Bassoon

Born in Vigo, Galicia in 1996, at the age of twelve she began her bassoon studies with David Arroyos at the Professional Conservatory of Vigo. In 2011 she travels to Oregon (USA) where she studies for a year with Christina Kramer and performs as first bassoon in the Eugene Youth Orchestra. In 2016 she moved to Holland where she began her advanced studies of modern bassoon at the Royal Conservatory of The Hague with Johan Steinmann, Alban Wesly and Gretha Tuls; and her baroque bassoon studies with Donna Agrell. Celia has been part of different orchestral and chamber music projects, such as the Youth Orchestra of Utrecht (UYO); the Codarts Orchestra in Rotterdam; the orchestra of the Royal Conservatory of The Hague; Sweelinck Orkest; Noordpol Orkest; Zutphense Orkest; Stockhausen’s Aus Licht Opera with the Dutch National Opera and Ballet in 2019; Weber’s Die Freischütz Opera with the Dutch National Opera and Ballet and the Concertgebouw Symphony Orchestra in 2022; the Dutch National Youth Jazz Orchestra (Njjo) in 2021 and 2022; and performed in renowned theaters such as De Doelen, Concertgebouw and Tivolivredenburg.

He is currently completing his master studies in performance at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague under the guidance of Bram van Sambeek.
